Short Story
Our continued efforts to seek opportunities to make a difference and after being inspired by the Sport For Lives platform, St Albans’s College First Team Hockey has decided to embark on a mission to raise R25000.00 for the Zinhle Foundation.
This Foundation aligns with our mission as a school as we continue to be a place where we prepare young men for life. The Zinhle Foundation similarly aims to change the lives of young men through literacy and mentorship.
We support and believe as they do that by focusing on literacy, mentorship, and skills development, we can break cycles of poverty, crime, and lack of opportunity, paving the way for a brighter future. A simple Google search has brought our worlds together as we believe we have found a foundation worthy of being noticed for the exceptional work they do in the Lotus Gardens Community near Atteridgeville.
The St Alban’s First Team Hockey boys not only challenge each other to score as many goals as possible during the season but also encourage parents, companies, and the wider St Albans College community to pledge towards this campaign by pledging per goal scored OR make a once-off contribution.

Story
The Zinhle Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2021 and based in Lotus Gardens, Pretoria, dedicated to empowering underprivileged boys through literacy and mentorship. We focus on boys who face challenges such as fatherlessness, bullying, and the lack of positive male role models. Through daily literacy programs, mentorship circles, and mental health support interventions, we strive to create a nurturing environment where boys can thrive despite their circumstances.
The Zinhle Foundation currently has 13 students enrolled in the program and looks forward to equipping these young boys with the skills they will need for their futures.
